Audio Technica's 9841 is a really cool, import only microphone direct from Japan. This tiny stereo "plug-in" powered microphone incorporates two cardioid elements, and scores points for its innovative rubber shock mount, which does reduce MD/DAT motor noise somewhat significantly.

And while the frequency response specifications may seem a bit underwhelming, the AT9841 does deliver the goods for voice, making this microphone an excellent selection for the student wishing to record lectures, as well as the journalist.
